About this guide
EmergencyHousing.ca Welcome is a free, practical guide to getting help in Ontario and Canada. It is built for people in a difficult moment — newcomers, residents facing eviction or a money crisis, and anyone who does not know where to start — and for the family members, workers and neighbours helping them.
What it does differently
- Triage first, categories second. Danger, distress, health and “not sure” each get a clear first number before any browsing.
- A guided finder, not just a list. Three questions narrow the directory to a short, usable set.
- A printable personal plan. Save resources on your device only, print them, and take them to the appointment. Nothing you save is sent to a server.
- Honest gaps. Where help is local and varies — shelters, rent banks, food-bank ID rules — the guide says so and points to 211, instead of printing a single number that would be wrong for most readers.
- Verified numbers only. Phone numbers and links are included only where they were verified from an official or government source in October 2026. Amounts for benefits are not printed, because they change and depend on household and situation.
What it is not
It is not an emergency service, and it is not legal, medical or financial advice. It does not replace 911, 988, 211, 811, a settlement agency, a legal clinic or a health-care provider. Always check the linked official service for current hours and eligibility.
Report a problem
If a number does not connect or a link is wrong, please tell EmergencyHousing.ca through its main site so the entry can be corrected. In the meantime, call 211 Ontario for the current local number.
