Stay housed.
Stay safe.
Be heard.

One calm, step-by-step tool for the hardest housing moments in Ontario: an eviction notice, a landlord who will not repair, violence at home, a housing denial, or discrimination. Built on a trauma-informed, rights-based, housing-first approach. You choose what to share, what to skip, and what to print.

5Steps: Safety, Paper, Goal, Draft, Pack
ELI5Every draft, in simple words

You do not have to tell the whole story to get help. Pick one step. Skip anything that feels unsafe or untrue for you. Nothing you type leaves this page.

1. Are you safe tonight?

If not, go to the Safety Plan first. Shelter, a trusted person, and a safe phone matter more than any form.

2. What paper did you get?

An N4, N12, N13, LTB hearing notice, eviction order, or housing denial each has a different deadline. Find it in My Situation, then check it in the Deadline Calculator.

3. What do you want to happen?

Stay, repair, compensation, a review, a new decision, or protection. The builder turns that goal into a clear, dated letter or form outline.

4. Who needs to hear it?

Landlord, Registry, council, legal department, MPP, Ombudsman, Federal Housing Advocate, LTB, or Human Rights Tribunal. One builder covers all of them, with the right tone for each.

Emergency triage - removal happening today? Do these in order, right now: 1) Safety Plan, 2) Express pack in Legal Tools (rights card, landlord demand, urgent outline), 3) Urgent motion outline in Letters and Forms, 4) Notify Everyone. Do not wait for a perfect letter. Get a lawyer, clinic, or shelter help the same day.

If you are unhoused right now - start here, in this order. 1) Safety Plan panel: build your plan, and use the Ontario Resource Directory and Helpline Directory buttons there. 2) Letters and Forms: shelter builder if a shelter turned you away, ID builder if you need identification or mail, emergency benefits builder if you need money for food and shelter. 3) If property was taken in a clearance, use the belongings builder the same day and ask for the inventory in writing. 4) If you were harmed, use the victim builder and call the Victim Support Line at 1-888-579-2888. 5) Keep every paper, date, and name in the Timeline in Advocate Utilities. You do not need a fixed address to start any of these drafts.

Practice areas - pick one, and the tool takes you there

Eviction defence

N4, N12, N13, LTB hearings, reviews, and stays. A notice alone does not end a tenancy.

Repairs and services

T6 maintenance, T3 rent reduction, and a dated repair record that a hearing can follow.

Violence and safety

Safety plan, N15, peace bond, and no-contact outlines. Safety first, forms second.

Discrimination

Code grounds, accommodation, HRTO Form 1 outline, and the one year deadline.

Encampment removal

Bylaw section by section, shelter evidence for each person, Charter sections 7 and 15.

Social housing

Registry reviews, Special Priority, and the 47 service managers under the Housing Services Act.

Oversight and records

Ombudsman, Auditor General, Integrity Commissioner, MFIPPA, and IPC appeals.

Courts and appeals

Divisional Court, Small Claims, Superior Court applications, and the new appeal roadmap.

Encampment? Start in LegalScape, then come back here to notify everyone. 1) In LegalScape, build the emergency Express package for removal happening now. 2) Here, use Notify Everyone to notify the municipality, the service manager, the Province, and the Federal Housing Advocate, each on its own draft. 3) Build the File-Ready Pack. 4) Check every deadline in the Deadline Calculator. The full workflow is in Knowledgebase section 28.

Tip from experience: Write dates, not adjectives. "On May 3 I emailed about no heat. On May 10 I called 311. No repair by May 24." That one habit wins more hearings than long, emotional letters. Keep photos, receipts, and every reply.

How this tool protects you

  • No server save: no account, no upload, no database, no log of your letter. Print, copy, or download to your own device only.
  • Leave no trace: use Quick Exit, or the button below, to clear this device storage and clear the page.
  • Your choice: use initials only. Leave your address out until you choose a trusted recipient. Skip any question.
  • Plain language first: every legal step is explained in short steps, then in full detail for people who want it.
  • Only theme and font size are stored on this device: this tool stores no letter, fact, or name in browser storage. Theme and font size only, and Quick Exit clears even those. Nothing is sent to a server.
