To apply for rent-geared-to-income (RGI) or subsidized housing in this area, contact Regional Municipality of Niagara directly or visit their housing page. You can usually choose several buildings across their service area on one application.
Before you call: have your ID, income details and current address ready. Ask about priority categories (such as fleeing domestic violence, homelessness, or medical need) that may move you up the list.
Priority access — you may qualify to move up the wait list
Ontario registries keep priority categories. If any apply to you, tell your service manager — it can move you ahead of the general wait list:
- Fleeing violence or abuse (Special Priority Policy): By law, survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking or sexual violence get top priority — you don't wait on the general list.
- Homelessness or at risk: Many areas prioritize people who are homeless or about to lose their housing.
- Health & safety: Urgent medical needs or unsafe housing conditions.
- Local priority groups: Some service managers add local categories (seniors, people with disabilities, youth leaving care, and more).
