Privacy Policy — Crisis Helplines
Last updated: October 12, 2026
This policy supplements the main EmergencyHousing.ca Privacy Policy.
1. What we don't collect
- No accounts, no profiles. There is nothing to sign up for or log in to.
- No visitor tracking. No tracking cookies, no analytics, no advertising, no social-media widgets.
- No health data. We never ask why you are looking for a helpline.
2. What stays on your device
My List: listings you save (♥) are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device only. We never see them and cannot recover them. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently.
Crisis banner: dismissing the red banner is not remembered anywhere — it returns on your next visit.
3. What travels over the network
Like any website, your browser requests our pages from our server in order to display them (for example when you search "Ottawa"). These standard technical requests are not tied to your identity and exist only to return your results. We keep no personal log of searches.
When you call, text, or chat with a helpline listed here, you communicate directly with that organization under its own privacy policy — not ours.
4. Emails you send us
If you write to [email protected] (for example to suggest a helpline), we receive your address and message content, which we use only to handle your request. We never sell email addresses.
5. Children
This tool collects no personal data from anyone, including children. Young people seeking help (for example Kids Help Phone in Canada) can use it like anyone else, with no account.
6. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Continued use of the tool constitutes acceptance of the current version.
